How to install Zentyal on top of Ubuntu or using the installer
Zentyal can be installed in two ways: on top of an existing Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server or desktop, or using the Zentyal installer that includes Ubuntu and Zentyal in a single package. The first option allows you to keep your current Ubuntu system and add Zentyal as a set of packages. The second option provides a ready-to-use Zentyal server with a minimal Ubuntu installation.
To install Zentyal on top of Ubuntu, you need to add the Zentyal repository to your sources list and then install the zentyal package. You can do this by running the following commands:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:zentyal/7.0
sudo apt update
sudo apt install zentyal
To install Zentyal using the installer, you need to download the ISO image from the Zentyal website and burn it to a CD or USB drive. Then you need to boot your computer from the CD or USB drive and follow the installation wizard. You will be asked to choose your language, keyboard layout, timezone, disk partitioning, and user account. After that, the installer will install Ubuntu and Zentyal automatically.
How to access and use the web administration interface
Zentyal's web administration interface is the main tool for managing your Zentyal servers. You can access it from any computer in your network using a web browser and entering the address https://ip_address:8443, where ip_address is the IP address or hostname of your Zentyal server. You will need to accept the self-signed certificate and enter your username and password to log in.
The web administration interface is divided into three main parts: the left side menu, the top menu, and the main content. The left side menu contains links to all the services that can be configured through Zentyal. The top menu contains actions such as saving changes, logging out, and accessing help. The main content shows forms or tables with information about the service configuration that you have selected from the left side menu.
One of the most important features of Zentyal's web administration interface is that it allows you to make changes without applying them immediately. This way, you can review and test your configuration before making it effective. To apply your changes, you need to click on the Save changes button in the top menu and confirm your action. You can also discard your changes by clicking on Undo changes. a474f39169
